GPS tournament categories explained: from GPS 50 to GPS 1500

The GPS categories (German Padel Series) determine who can join a tournament and how registration spots are allocated. The higher the number, the stronger the field — and usually the higher the prize money.

Restricted categories — only for teams below a combined ranking point limit, registration is first come, first served:

  • GPS 50 – Entry level for beginners and recreational players. Max. 150 combined ranking points per team.
  • GPS 100 – For players with some tournament experience. Max. 500 combined ranking points.
  • GPS 250 – Intermediate level. Max. 1,500 combined ranking points.
  • GPS 350 – Advanced level. Max. 3,000 combined ranking points. Spots go to the teams with the highest combined points.

Open categories — no ranking point restrictions; spots are awarded to teams with the highest combined points:

  • GPS 500 – Strong regional level, open to all teams.
  • GPS 750 – Elevated regional field.
  • GPS 1000 – National level.
  • GPS 1500 – Highest national GPS tier.

Prize money is typically offered from GPS 500 upwards. GPS 50 to GPS 250 run without prize money but award ranking points for the national DPV ranking list.
