Padel tournaments in Nordrhein-Westfalen: what you need to know
Padel tournaments in Nordrhein-Westfalen: getting started
The padel tournament scene in Nordrhein-Westfalen is growing steadily. More and more clubs regularly host GPS tournaments organised by the Deutscher Padel Verband. There are currently 259 tournaments across 29 cities on the calendar. This page gives you an overview of all upcoming tournaments in the region — with a map, filters and direct links to each city's tournament page.
Whether you're planning your first tournament or looking for higher GPS categories — here you'll find the key information on registration, costs and match format.
GPS categories: finding the right tournament
Each DPV tournament is assigned a GPS category — from GPS 50 (beginner) through GPS 200 and GPS 500 to GPS 1500 (professional). The category determines the difficulty level and the number of ranking points awarded. For your first tournament, we recommend GPS 50 or GPS 100.
The team points rule ensures fair draws: the combined GPS points of both players must not exceed the category limit. This way, you always compete against teams at a similar level.
How a padel tournament works
GPS tournaments consist of a group phase and a knockout round. Matches are always played in doubles, in a best-of-3 format with a tiebreak at 6-6. At deuce, the Golden Point decides — a single point where the returning team chooses the side.
Duration depends on the number of participants. Expect half a day to a full day. Plan enough time and bring a padel racket, indoor shoes, water and a towel.
Registration and costs
To participate, you need a free RankedIn account and a DPV membership (€59/year, €18/weekly pass, €12/youth). The entry fee is capped at €45 per player. Registration typically closes on Monday at 22:00.
